Student-led, Community Funded, Indigenous U16 Rugby Team

Hello, I'm Jayden Ah Boo, and I'm honoured to lead the 2024 Zei Balas Rugby Team. Our team, made up of Indigenous students from remote communities, is gearing up to compete in the upcoming Murri Rugby Carnival in Brisbane from September 24th to 29th, 2024. But to make this dream a reality, we need your support.

Some of us are lucky to have scholarships in Brisbane, and we want to provide the same opportunity to our friends and family from remote areas, including Badu, Thursday Island, Horn Island, Cairns, and Townsville. We are eager to showcase our rich cultural heritage and strong family bonds on a larger stage, and we believe that rugby is the perfect platform to empower our community to shine.

We are a U16 team consisting of 27, including 20 players; five of us go to school together, and the other 15 guest players. All players are asked to raise the cost of their flights to and from the competition, this alone is challenging for most to do.
