Change One Life, and You Can Change the World!

Hi! I’m Judy Howley, a retired public school teacher who recently traveled to southern Africa on safari. The landscapes and animals were breathtaking, but one aspect of the trip left a heavy cloud over my experience: the heartbreaking condition of Zimbabwe’s public education system.

The schools are in desperate need of teachers, textbooks, computers, stationery, and even basic facilities—things we take for granted in our own schools.

I felt compelled to help, and my first step was to begin donating money to one school in Victoria Falls, Chinotimba Primary School, to provide one meal a day to their 300 most vulnerable students. While I felt good about doing something, it still felt like a drop in the ocean compared to the overwhelming need.

That’s why I started a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization—to do more. My goal is to help Chinotimba meet its most urgent needs. Through conversations with Victor Sibanda, the school’s acting principal, we have identified three priorities:

    1.    Food for the Children: Many students come to school hungry, and providing one meal a day would make a tremendous difference.

    2.    Educational Supplies: Textbooks, library books, computers, and Wi-Fi are desperately needed to support learning.

    3.    Improved Facilities: Students and staff need better restroom and handwashing facilities to reduce the spread of disease.

With more funding and help from generous, compassionate people like you, I hope to make a meaningful impact for the students of Chinotimba—and eventually expand our efforts to nearby villages where the need is even greater.
