Empower Girls in Zambia and Ghana: Support UBCO Nursing Students' Project to Raise Funds for Feminine Hygiene Products!

Help us make a lasting impact in the lives of girls in Zambia and Ghana!

We are a group of four nursing students at the University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO) raising funds to provide as many feminine hygiene kits as possible to girls in Zambia and Ghana. Each year, a group of fourth-year nursing students have the opportunity to travel to Ghana and Zambia to provide healthcare education on sexual and reproductive health measures, infection control practices and menstrual hygiene. The group also brings period kits to promote menstrual hygiene, helping keep girls in school.

In Ghana and Zambia, the students engage with girls through workshops and provide resources to track menstruation cycles. By emphasizing women’s rights, we aim to empower girls with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their bodies and futures.

The UBCO nursing program has been dedicated to this journey since 2004. Through empowerment, we hope to make a difference in the lives of young girls living in rural Africa.

How Can You Help?

With each donation, you can help support a girl stay in school without the worry of dropping out due to her menstrual cycle.

Your support is crucial in making this project a success! Here's how you can contribute:

1. Donations: 100% of your donation will directly support girls in Ghana and Zambia. UBCO nursing students traveling to Ghana in 2025 will purchase kits beforehand and distribute them to girls in need in these provinces. These kits include reusable materials designed to last for several years, ensuring girls can stay in school while menstruating. Each kit costs $15 CAD to produce.

2. Spread Awareness: Share our mission with your friends, family, and community. Every voice counts in raising awareness and garnering support. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of these girls.

Thank you for your support and generosity!
