Empowering Costa Rican Businesses: Bridging a Digital Divide

Hello! We are the Investment Society at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), a passionate group of students committed to making a difference. Our mission? To bridge the digital divide and empower communities in the poorest and most underserved region in Costa Rica.

Our Cause: In Costa Rica, access to technology remains a challenge for many. Without laptops, local business owners and students alike miss out on essential tools for growth, learning, communication, and managing their businesses. We believe that everyone deserves a chance to thrive, regardless of their socio-economic background.

What Happened: During our recent outreach trip to Costa Rica, we witnessed firsthand the determination of both students and local business owners who strive to succeed despite limited resources. Last trip, we successfully raised money to provide laptops to students. This time, we are focusing on local business owners in the poorest region of Costa Rica. We met inspiring individuals like a taxi/delivery driver, banana farmer, coffee farmer, and mechanic who dream of brighter futures. In the video, you'll see a restaurant where we were able to donate a laptop to its staff.

Our Goal: We aim to raise funds to provide brand-new laptops to local business owners in Costa Rica. These laptops will be their gateway to better business management, connectivity, and growth opportunities. With your support, we can transform lives and businesses, one laptop at a time.

How Funds Will Be Used:

Purchasing Laptops: We’ll carefully select affordable, high-quality laptops that meet the business owners’ needs.

Distribution and Training: We’ll organize workshops to teach local business owners how to use these laptops effectively for their businesses. We will be traveling to Costa Rica again this January to conduct these training sessions.
