Empowering Dreams- Help Arsha Pay for university

Life is an unpredictable journey, and mine has been no exception. My name is Harshdeep Kaur (Arsha), a second-year International Biomedical Sciences student from India with a passion to find cures and promote quality education to the nations who need it. Today, I reach out to you not just as a student seeking help but as someone who has overcome adversity and is determined to make a difference.

Though my grandmother and my besttttt friend, Nik, is no longer with us, their memory serves as a source of inspiration. Witnessing my gran battle against sepsis aggravated by diabetes fuelled my determination to contribute to science and find cures. I carry her spirit with me every day, knowing that somewhere, she is watching me! Recently, Nik, my best friend from university, passed away. We shared the same course, had our own struggles but tried being resilient, and shared some special memories together. Nik fought relentlessly against Leukaemia, attempting to study even from her hospital bed, eventually had to leave us till she just couldn't fight it anymore! I cannot give up because this degree means a starting point to make a meaningful impact in the research of tomorrow, not for myself but for these beautiful souls, who are no longer with us.

My life has been anything but easy. Abandoned by my family at the age of 15, I decided to forge a new beginning, laying down everything to ensure that I could study at a world-class Russell Group University- Cardiff University. However, the financial support I expected from my parents started to crumble during the beginning of this academic year.

In India, a lawsuit under the Domestic Violence Act (2008 amendment), filed in the Saket district of New Delhi, under Judge Samiksha Gupta, awaits resolution, and only god knows how long this will take to serve me justice. Meanwhile, my parents, who initially promised via mediation in 2021 to cover my tuition fees (£25000 a year), have backed out and left me to deal with this all by myself. The financial strain is immense, especially when I'm so close to completing the academic year.

Currently sustaining myself through part-time tutoring, I'm also responsible for caring for my younger sister who's more like my little daughter. If I'm forced to return to India, where I no longer have a home, the pending court case and deportation threaten not just my education but also our livelihood.

I'm halfway through this journey, balancing education and the responsibility of caring for my little sister. I can't bear the thought of her experiencing what I've been through, especially in a country where women and children's rights are not well-protected. I've reached a point where I can no longer walk this path alone. The financial burden has become overwhelming, and I find myself in need of support to continue my education, fulfil my responsibilities, and ultimately achieve my goal of becoming a Scientist. Yet, amidst the challenges, I was fortunate to have the support of my school teacher who once paid my school fees and from my personal tutor in the UK, who has been a pillar of support and never let me give up, and all I want to do is make them proud!

Your contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant impact on my journey. I am reaching out to you because I cannot do this alone. Your support is more than a contribution, It fuels not just my education but the dreams and discoveries that could save lives in the future.

Let's show that everyone, regardless of where they start, deserves a chance to dream and achieve.

With a Grateful Heart
Harshdeep and Rammu

Love from both of us (myself and my little one)

Sharing a heartfelt moment from the pandemic, where I went through tough times alone, feeling the absence of the person I loved the most—my father. The screenshots of countless messages echo the silence, making me wonder if my love was ever enough. Can you help me make my voice heard by my parents and make me believe that I'm not alone in this?

Teaching is my joy, and my students are my biggest cheerleaders. Today, I'm seeking your support on my journey. Can I count on you to believe in me?

In loving memory of my dear friend Nik! I will always love you, and I'll do my utmost to fight against it, Nik, living to make you proud.
