Empowering Justice: Autism Support Fund
Hey, my name is Soncerae, and I’m the proud mom of my amazing 6-year-old son, Justice. Justice is a bright, loving, and curious child who recently started speaking more after being nonverbal for most of his life...a milestone I celebrate every single day. Justice has autism, and while we’re still waiting for his full evaluation from his Neurologist, it’s clear that he needs specialized care and support to help him thrive.
Being Justice’s mom is the greatest honor, but it’s also an around-the-clock commitment. As his autism advocate, I’ve had to put my career on hold because his needs are so time-consuming. Every day, I juggle a long list of responsibilities, including therapy sessions, evaluations, scheduling, and managing sensory challenges. Justice just started first grade a month ago, but we’re still 60 days away from getting his Individualized Education Plan (IEP) completed, so that he can have a paraprofessional help him at school. This means much-needed support is still out of reach. On top of that, we’ve been placed on dozens of waiting lists for therapy and resources that should be easier to access.
Justice’s journey has shown me the beauty of resilience and unconditional love, but it’s also highlighted how costly and exhausting it can be to provide him with the special care he needs. From therapies and sensory tools to educational resources, these expenses add up quickly, and as a single mom, I can’t do it alone. I don't have any family or close friends here in California. Most of the people I love are on the east coast and it's not easy for me to pack up and move closer to them. Especially when we've been living in California for 7 years. This is a familiar environment for him and it would cause more issues if I uproot him.
I want to enroll in the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program for paid parent caregivers, but a social worker needs to inspect our home first. Our current living situation is temporary, so we need to secure stable housing, reliable transportation, and funds to cover Justice’s specialized care, including his nurse, Luciana.
That’s why I’m reaching out to you for help. Your support will go directly toward the tools and resources that can make a real difference in Justice’s life. Whether it’s funding a therapy session, helping with school-related costs, or even just covering basic living expenses while I focus on his care, every donation will ease the weight we’re carrying.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for being part of Justice’s journey. Whether you choose to donate, share our story, or send kind words of encouragement, your support means the world to us. Together, we can help Justice thrive and reach his full potential.
With love and gratitude,
Soncerae and Justice
