Let's provide a roof to PortBell Academy
Donation protected
Port Bell Academy (PBA) offers professional education and training in computer science for girls and women in Douala, Cameroon.
Since its debut in 2018, the program has provided numerous ethical training, and professional training in IT, leadership and entrepreneurship to high school students, working professionals, and women with limited resources. However the program is restricted by the size of its facility and the number of equipment available (only one classroom is available and can accommodate 15 students at a time).
To overcome this challenge and increase the outreach of the program, PBA leadership team has envisioned a bold project: the construction of a new building which will include a conference hall, meeting rooms, 7 classrooms, a library/study room, as well as common service areas and sport facilities. The total cost of the project is $1.1 million.
Impact of the project:
The objective of this project is to help in closing the gender gap in education by providing necessary skills in ICT.
The short term impact of the project is:
- to train 240 learners per year to be proficient with ICT
- to increase the number of families digitalized through our community program to 100 families/year
The long term impact of the project is:
- to augment the number of places where distant training and teleworking are effective through PortBell Academy alumni
Goal of the campaign:
The goal of this campaign is to raise $100,000 to complete the structural work and provide the roofing of the building. The construction is underway, and we need your support to reach our goal.
However, once the roofing is completed, we will still need $500,000 for carpentry and metalworks, sanitary and plumbing, electricity, and painting. This GoFundMe will help cover some of the expenses related to the project.
Please donate what you can. And forward this GoFundMe to everyone you know.
Together, we will open up the digital universe and its incredible opportunities to hundreds of girls and women annually in Cameroon.
