Hi, my name is Travis and I am the co-founder of the Empty Creel Trout Club Inc. The Empty Creel Trout Club which is designated as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization by the IRS was started to promote catch and release fishing with a foundation of river conservation and trout habitat improvement. All donations to the Empty Creel Trout Club will be used to fund special events and projects in our coverage area.
I started the Empty Creel Trout Club to teach others the sport of fly fishing, proper catch and release etiquette, and the importance of river habitat projects. Growing up on a river system that was affected by Acid Mine Drainage, I got to witness first hand how river habitat projects can bring the ecosystem back to life. Unfortunately, the general public is not fully educated on these projects and many assume it is just money being wasted to provide a better "fishing hole". Although the fishing does benefit from these projects, the rivers entire ecosystem benefits.
The goal of the Empty Creel Trout Club is to be more hands on with the communities to educate individuals about these projects benefits through the sport of fly fishing. Our first event will be spring of 2024 where we will take veterans fly fishing for the day. The ultimate goal is to make sure every veteran catches more fish than they can dream of, but it is also important to teach them of how river improvements and conservation can lead to many years of successful fishing trips.
With your help, we can keep all the classes and events free to those who attend.
