Empty Your Purse to Feed a Nurse
Backstory: Our team at Ruby's Cafe began serving free meals in early March on a large scale to some of the amazing doctors, nurses and medical staff that have been stretched beyond belief during this unprecedented time in New York City.
The raw emotion, tears and gratitude shown by every member of staff has given us a glimpse of the extreme pressure and strain they are under now more than ever. The sacrifice they are all making each and everyday on the front line of this crisis is inspiring, heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.
Given the current climate with our restaurants being closed we are struggling to keep up with the demand, we are hopeful with your love and support we can continue to serve these amazing hospital heroes and provide them with nourishing meals to keep them going as they work around the clock.
100% of the donations to this GoFundMe will be put towards serving breakfast, lunch and dinner to different departments of the many hospitals we have been fortunate to connect with.
To date we have scheduled deliveries for NYU Langone, NYC Bellevue, Mount Sinai West & Upper East Side, Memorial Sloan Kettering, Komansky Children's Hospital, Lenox Hill Hospital, Weill Cornell & Harlem Hospital. This list is growing day by day with hospital staff reaching out to us and giving us some insight into the growing strain on the system.
