SEPTEMBER 7, 2020 | An Update from Keyzner Family:
Our hearts are shattered as our sweet Lily passed away in her cozy bed, in her favorite city, and with her mama and papa by her side on Saturday night. Here is a poem I wrote for her funeral today. She was a very special girl to so many people. Even though her time was short, we were so lucky to have her as ours...
Lily was never an adventurous type,
She was kind loving and always polite.
She would always be the first to follow the rules,
Always friendly and approachable from her first day of school.
Her big bright eyes and chubby cheeks were just a few features,
that made her our most beautiful teacher.
Her taste in food was always unique,
Not chocolate and sweets but lox and babushka’s matzoh ball soup is what she would seek.
Her favorite thing to do was play pretend with dress up and kitchen her imagination had no end.
And while she was playing she would always request, “Hey Alexa play Beatles”
Cause she knew they were the best.
Lily would love to put on a show with lots of singing and dancing,
And when she would bring in her sister it would always be outstanding.
Playing is the work of a child,
With stickers, art, and playdoh she always would smile.
And there was never a baby that wasn’t “so sweet” as Lily loved every one that passed by her on the street.
She was strong and brave beyond her years, and she loved with all her heart without any fears.
Her kisses and hugs will always be missed,
And her sweet little laugh was a special gift.
With purple sparkles and rainbow skies
We love you Lily, it’s time to fly.

As of 1/12/2020, an update from the Keyzner Family:
This new year started with so much hope. Alex was planning on returning to work after being Lily’s caretaker for the past 16 months. We had just signed the lease for a new bigger apartment closer to the hospital, parks, and libraries. We were going to put the girls together in a big room to have a sister room.
Unfortunately on moving day everything changed those hopes. Lily started throwing up the night before and wasn’t talking much or acting like herself the next day. Because she continued to throw up we brought her to the hospital to make sure she was hydrated. She went to a birthday party on Saturday and we were assuming that she caught some stomach bug. When she got there she was declining, not responding or looking at us and couldn’t talk. They rushed her down for an emergency CT scan of her brain where they found a massive brain bleed. They quickly admitted her and rushed to get the best brain surgeon in the world (who operated in her back in May) to operate. She was in the OR by 6pm and was out of a very complicated and life threatening surgery by 12pm where they found a large tumor the size of a cauliflower head in her brain.
Our amazing team at Sloan worked quickly and effectively but sadly it’s not enough. There is still remaining tumor in her brain that would be too risky to take out with surgery. She has already had radiation to the central nervous system. She received the antibody that is supposed to stop recurrence in the brain. Once neuroblastoma comes back after these treatments there is no cure.
She is currently recovering from major surgery and very slowly starting to talk more and be herself. We will start radiation and possibly another antibody treatment to have the most time possible with her. We will try to create memories and spend time together in our new home even if they aren’t the memories we had intended for 2020.
Hug your babies close every night and let the small things go.
Childhood cancer is horrific. These children are not super heroes, yes they are brave but they have no choice. They don’t get to be kids because they are stuck in a hospital and some don’t get to grow up...

November, 2019 | Update
Lily Bea, just shy of being 3, was complaining of belly aches. Keren and Alex (her incredibly strong parents) took her to the ER never thinking their worst nightmare would become a reality.
Lily has been diagnosed with neuroblastoma stage 4 cancer. They are being treated, loved, and cared for at Sloan Kettering in NYC. While lucky to be close to the best doctors and team in the world at Sloan, their life is upside down and have baby Anna to tend to. The Keyzner clan is positive & optimistic as anyone who knows them can tell you. They are truly a picture-perfect family. However, this devastating news makes it nearly impossible to keep your head up. To watch your baby girl get weekly chemo, suppress the painful side effects and deal with the unknown...daily. From caring for an infant, staying positive for Lily, bills, potential donor and treatment needed, we need to step up to keep the Keyzner spirits up.
This is where you come in. You're here because you want to help. Keren and Alex want prayers. They want they're baby girl to beat this nasty C word and rid it from her beautiful body and soul. How you can help? Right here. Donate to the bravest, strongest, kindest, cutest, fighter in the world. Help the Keyzners get back to the playground. Get back to birthday parties. Get back to a family of 4 watching Daniel Tiger, being silly, and enjoying every day as a growing healthy family.
All money will be sent to the Keyzner family to help cover the day-to-day costs associated with Lily's fight (medical bills, hospital stays, etc.)
