Cathy's Wish

Cathy Ratcliffe, nee Toohey (ex Cullen), has metastatic breast cancer and has had a long 10 year cancer journey. Cathy is a bubbly, selfless person who has participated and organised many a fundraiser in the past. Recently, she was saying that she wanted to put together gift packs for others about to start cancer treatment - this was her wish! She is now in palliative care. We, her family, want to carry on her legacy and fulfil her wish of providing care packages to cancer patients.

Many friends, family and acquaintances have been touched by knowing Cathy and have reached out to her and her family in recent days. Some have sent flowers, messages, cards, others have not known what they can do. Whilst we cannot change the outcome for Cathy and this terrible disease, we can bring her wish to fruition.

We have started this funding page with her permission solely for that purpose. A small team of family and friends will coordinate and carry out this task in Aunty Cathy's name. Should there be any funds left after the task is done, the family will choose a cancer-related charity to donate the remaining funds. As per Cathy's instructions, no funds whatsoever will go to Cathy or her family as they will only be used for the purchase of the support packs and fulfilling this wish of hers to help others. The packs will be distributed in 2024. Thank you for your consideration in supporting Cathy's Wish.

Addendum

On 19 October, 2023 at St John of God hospital Cathy passed away surrounded by her loved ones. Her wish will be carried out in her name.

A service will be conducted on Friday 27 October in Barrabool for her family and friends celebrate her amazing life.
