End of Life Expenses for Pamela Jean Stone

Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Heather the oldest of Pam's three children. My brother, sister and I are fundraising for our mother Pamela Jean Stone's end of life expenses. Our mom was fighting Stage 4 breast cancer for the second time, this time the cancer metastasized to other areas of the body. We understood the cancer wasn't curable but treatable. She kept fighting with chemo being her best treatment option. Unfortunately, chemo is not selective for only cancer cells. This left her immunocompromised and vulnerable to infection.

For the past two weeks our mom was not feeling well, had little appetite and was sleeping a lot. Our aunt, Nadine Olivas who has been her primary support for care, took her to the hospital. She called us and informed us mom wasn't doing so well and I asked "Do we need to come?", and she said "Yes".

We found out mom developed a pretty gnarly MRSA infection. The hospital staff did their best to stave off spread of the infection to her bloodstream, but the damage to other organs was catastrophic. Her fight continued with the antibiotics, removing a large portion of the infected tissue. and dialysis treatment. They were able to stabilize her heart with these medical procedures, but mom was tired and decided she'd had enough.

At first, we didn't want to let her go, but after seeing how much pain she was in, and the fact she would not get to go back to the life she was living before (due to this infection), kidney failure and the cancer. We had to take a step back and push away our own selfishness. We had to support her final wishes.

As I sat in the hospital room with her, she told me "please let me go, and let me have peace." As her oldest daughter I had to support her on her final decision.

When she looked at me and the doctors and said that she wanted peace we all understood what she wanted. So, they focused on keeping her comfortable. We had a couple days of sitting with her and talking to her until she passed on 9/9/2023 @ 1:00am.

I will tell you, seeing her last breath and her eyes close was the hardest thing I've ever been through, but after seeing her at peace, I knew that she was happy.

I still feel like 63 is too young to pass. The one consolation we have, is Pamela Jean Stone left so many great memories and she loved so many. She was a hero in my book, the strongest women I'll ever know.

Now, my sister Patricia Cook, My brother Patrick Wakefield and I have some big shoes to fill to make the same mark on this world, and all God's children like our beautiful mother did.

My mom left this world with a lot of love and memories. She didn't have a retirement, life insurance policy, or even much of a savings. Knowing that, I purchased burial insurance last month. We were hoping to have more time to prepare for this day, but it came sooner than we hoped for. Unfortunately, the fine print excluded us from the insurance I purchased to make the end of life expenses affordable.

Any and all donations will go directly to Pamela Jean Stone's Cremation expenses.

Thank you for taking the time to read our story.

My mom's final words " Thank you to all my friends and family I love you all! "
