What would our world look like with smaller landfills, classroom supplies for all teachers and children, and the homeless productively contributing within a compassionate and giving environment? A city could be cared for, creativity and learning could blossom, and relationships could be built. This is what ScrapsKC does each and every day.
ScrapsKC began as a small, non-profit dedicated to caring for Kansas City’s environment, education and homeless through creative reuse. Over the last two years, hundreds of community members and dozens of local businesses and manufacturers have had a hand in preserving our beautiful city by donating 85 tons of their scraps to our creative reuse center. Even the homeless we serve bring scraps they find to support our mission! We have had the privilege of providing over 15,000 pounds of school supplies, diverted from the landfill, to over 350 teachers in our community for free. Community and homeless volunteers spent in excess of 1,500 manpower hours to clean and repurpose each and every one of these supplies. Now, thousands of children have the tools they need to learn. ScrapsKC has welcomed 40 homeless men and women through our doors to provide love, refuge, food, and necessities in return for their help in maintaining our facilities. Scouts and community members have partnered with us to serve over 2,100 breakfast sandwiches and gallons of coffee on Saturday mornings to those who call the streets home.
ScrapsKC is dedicated to care for more of Kansas City in 2019. Join us, and encourage your community, to support our mission and help us achieve our goal to raise $10,000. Your generosity will enable us to divert more materials from the landfill, provide more supplies to more teachers and create more opportunities for the homeless to be productive citizens in a safe and welcoming environment. But it takes everyone to care for our community. By clicking on the link below, your tax-deductible donation will generously support our mission. Together, we can greatly transform the Kansas City community.
