Love and Support for Christina Polito Czorny

Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family,

During this time of crisis for Christina, Joe, Trevor and Vanessa, we all want to help and show our love and support. As of January 1st, Christina is still in the hospital in Florida -her path to recovery is still unknown and her family is facing much uncertainty for the future. This is how we can help and if you are able to support it will be truly appreciated.

The past 4 weeks have been very difficult- here are the details that Joe would like to share.

On Dec 2nd while Joe and Chris were on vacation in Florida, Christina suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. She was rushed to the hospital and thankfully over the next 10 days received the care she needed to survive.
Medical procedures included
-Subarachnoid hemorrhage embolization and coiling (used to control excessive bleeding)
-Multiple burr holes (to relieve pressure on the brain)
-Craniotomy (to evacuate subdural hematoma which is a brain blood clot)
-Multiple procedures to treat Vasospasms (contracting blood vessels blocking blood flow to brain)
-External ventricular drain (to remove excess cerebrospinal fluid from brain)

From Dec 2nd to Dec 11th, Christina was in the ICU and intubated, her condition and severity of impairment unknown. On Dec 11th, doctor's removed Christina's breathing tube and thankfully she was able to breathe on her own, and finally able to speak to Joe.

Christina's condition and full extent of her long term recovery are still unknown. We hope that Chris will be able to return to Ottawa soon, where she will be hospitalized while undergoing intense rehabilitation and physical therapy needed to start recovery.

Regardless of cost and complications, Christina will receive the best care available and we are all praying for her full recovery. While hoping for the best, the reality is a very long road of hard work and determination for Christina to recover basic functions for independence. Only time will tell what functions will return with rehabilitation and therapy, and it's unknown how long recovery will take, or if Christina will be able to return to full independence, to work, to her previous life.

Thank you for your love and support for my brother Joe and my sister in law Christina, nephew and niece Trevor and Vanessa. They need us now more than ever, and we won't let them down. ♥️
