This time we'll be translating a rare behind the scenes look at The End of Evangelion. A 16-minute documentary that takes a look at the development and the live action portion of the film. (See video for reference.)
The other video we're translating is a mammoth 24-minute interview between Hideaki Anno and his filmmaking inspiration Kihachi Okamoto. In one scene, Anno confesses that his favorite director is Okamoto hands down. They talk about their background and approach towards filmmaking, and we see what aspects of filmmaking Anno learned from Okamoto. More about the fundamental filmmaking principles of Anno here.
I've been working with a native Japanese speaker to translate these, so rest assured that these subtitles will be of the utmost quality. I'm also personally meticulously timing the subtitles so that they appear on screen at the perfect time, so that we get a great experience while watching them.
I truly appreciate any contributions you can make towards this collective endeavor of ours, to archive every available footage we have on this great director, and with English subtitles so that more people can get a better understanding of the man and his work.
