Help The Engelstad Family
Family, Friends and Loved ones of the Engelstad's know what a wonderful family they are, and now they need our help! On Sunday night Wayne Jr. was critically injured after being hit by a driver who was arrested at the scene for DUI. He remains in the hospital with major injuries that we know will take many, many months, much effort and God's love to recover from. Meanwhile Wayne Sr. is in the hospital dealing with an infection that has challenged him with repeat hospital stays for many months. Mom Elia is struggling with two of her family in hospitals at the same time.
If you know this family, you know them to be a warm and loving one, truly pillars of their community. Wayne Jr. was a popular basketball player in Brentwood who went on to play for Los Medanos where he graduated from, and later Pacific Union College, where he was returning on Sunday night when this happened. Big Wayne, a former pro basketball player and retired Contra Costa Deputy Sherrif coached his own and dozens of other kids as they grew up. Sister Sabrina recently graduated from UCI, a star basketball player in her own right she is in school studying coaching. This whole family loves to give to their community and take care of people. Elia's home has been a place of refuge for many, always there to provide food or support.
This is to raise money to help with general expenses, medical fees, meals, and ultimately replacement of Wayne Jr.s car.
