Navigating the complexities of the gig economy has been a defining aspect of our mission at Humberto Souza Charitable Foundation. For many, gig work offers a vital lifeline--an alternative for traditional employment that, despite its challenges, provides essential income for countless individuals and their families. Our collective journey in this section is marked by a shared understanding of unpredictable shifts

that can dramatically impact our livelihoods. It's a path fraught with uncertainty, where support and solidarity have become indispensable tools for resiliance.

My personal narrative is at the heart of our organization's inception. I found myself in a dire situation When I have lost several of my jobs and my car, a critical asset for my job, broke down beyond repair. The financial burden of acquiring a new vehicle was overwhelming, threatening to consume more than half of my monthly earnings. Faced with this crisis, I considered fundraising but quickly realized the challenges of reaching potential donors on my own. It was through consulting with industry experts that I received the pivotal advice to formalize these efforts--leading to the foundation of Humberto Souza, Inc. as a non-profit organization. This strategic move was aimed at making the fundraising process more structured and trustworthy, thereby enhancing its effectiveness.

At Humberto Souza Charitable Foundation, we extend the struggle and aspirations embodied in Humberto's story to a broader mission. We are committed to supporting not just Humberto but also others within the gig economy who find themselves in similar circumstances. Our experience as ridesharing and delivery drivers

has endowed us with an intimate knowledge of the gig economy volatility. We've witnessed in firsthand how quickly situations can change,

leaving individuals struggling to menage reduced income and increased expenses.

Our organization is dedicated to advocating for those whose voices are often drowned out by the cacophony of the gig economy's relentless pace.

Our work goes beyond seeking financial aid we strive to iluminate the lived experiences of the gig workers, advocating for societal recognition and support during downturn that disproportionately affect us.

By sharing stories of those who stand with us--individuals and organizations alike--we aim to foster a community of support that transcends individual struggle.
