Enhancing Senior Food Delivery: Help Us Secure a Transit Van

Since 1989, Central Kitsap Food Bank (CKFB) has been dedicated to serving our community with a mission to provide food at no cost to people in need while preserving their dignity. In 2023 alone, we distributed over 1.2 million pounds of food to 36,154 people across multiple counties and 25% of those served were seniors. Currently, CFKB serves all of Kitsap County, Brinnon, and Quilcene food banks. The food bank spends more than $500 each month on fuel, traveling over 800 miles monthly to deliver food to those in need.

One of our biggest challenges is efficiently delivering food to seniors in 17 low-income apartment complexes throughout the county. While our current large box truck is essential for larger deliveries, it is not practical for navigating residential areas. We urgently need a transit van to better serve the 650 seniors who rely on us through the federal Commodities Supplemental Food Program (CSFP). This van will also enable us to expand our reach, helping even more seniors in need.

We’ve been awarded a $25,000 grant, but we need to raise an additional $12,310 to cover the full cost of the van. Every dollar brings us closer to reaching our goal and making a direct impact on the lives of seniors across Kitsap County.
