Breast Revision
Donation protected
In 2004 as a younger adult and being of the arts and many entertainment fields I decided to get breast implants. At that time many of us felt we had to change our bodies in order to get hired. Especially as a black woman. It took me months to research and find the perfect surgeon for me, who I trusted with my life. In 2004, I paid close to $5000 for the entire procedure and visits. Cool deal right?
It has been 18 years with no issues or problems. Recently, after performing for a week straight I begin to feel a sharp pain in my left breast. I thought it was due to my menstrual cycle but I remembered I already had it. One morning as I was getting ready for work and taking my shower I noticed blood all over my arm and by my feet. As I touched my body I saw the blood was coming from my left nipple. I jumped out of the shower, dressed, and rushed to Kaiser Urgent Care. I was able to see a Dr. who said to keep my nipple clean and dry and to take Ibuprofen if in pain. The nurse gave me a referral to see a breast specialist. After being sent through the run around all that day I had to wait a week to see the Specialist. I begged for an earlier appointment which they were able to give me. The Specialist examined ruled out cancer and gave me an appointment for tests two weeks later (3/15).
I reached out to the surgeon who performed my initial surgery and he had me send him photos of my breast. So, it seems that my entire breast muscles have hardened and need to be removed. The surgeon advised me to move forward with all of the lab work and test first with my primary.
I have options on which procedures to have. I can just remove bags and have the hardness in the muscles released through drains. I can remove the bags, get the drains and receive a lift with possible fat transfers or I can go through a revision, which means to remove the bags, get the drains and replace the bags. However, any of these procedures will cost me over $10, 000. And no my insurance will not cover. My insurance will only cover removal only if it's from natural causes.
So, here we are my birthday is in April and I may have to sit out from what I wanted to do for this Big Birthday. I have always had issues asking for help but I woke up this morning in great pain with over-the-counter ibuprofen. I am laying aside all ego, scaredness, etc to ask for help. This can be a birthday donation or a medical donation however see fit but I am always with love and gratitude. I am grateful for you even reading my story. Thank you
P.S
My procedure will cost $12,000 exactly. And I will not be able to work for a few weeks after the scar tissue is removed and the drains.
