My name is Bre. I'm Ricky's sister-in-law.
Dear friends,
It is with heavy hearts, we share the devastating news of the passing of our most beloved Ricky on Tuesday, May 16th, 2023. He died of a medical event while at a substance use disorder treatment center. Our hearts are broken, and our minds are in disbelief. We come together to celebrate the remarkable life of someone who left an indelible impact on our hearts and our community.
Ricky was an extraordinary individual who touched the lives of countless people. Ricky’s selflessness, kindness, and unwavering commitment to making a difference have left an enduring imprint on our lives and community. Whether it was jumping in to help out in any way you needed, making you laugh with his jokes, inspiring you with his passion for travel, music and photography or working tirelessly in the community to make a difference in all those who struggled with addiction, Ricky was a beacon of light for so many. His impact was felt in various spheres. A husband, a son, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, a friend, an advocate; Ricky held these titles with honor and made sure others knew how much he loved them.
Ricky was also a pillar in our community. He inspired change and united people for the shared purpose of improving addiction recovery in Washington state. To his last day, Ricky was fighting for his recovery as he did for so many others seeking recovery.
Today as we face the unbearable grief of losing Ricky, his family is confronted with unexpected financial burdens. Funeral expenses, memorial arrangements and outstanding medical bills have compounded our sorrow, making an already challenging time even more overwhelming.
In honor of Ricky’s legacy and his profound impact on our lives, we have created this GoFundMe campaign. It is our humble request that you join us in alleviating the financial strain and help continue Ricky’s mission. Your contribution will not only help us cover immediate expenses but will also enable us to commemorate Ricky’s memory in a manner befitting his extraordinary spirit. Funds exceeding our goal will be donated to carry on his work.
In lieu of flowers please consider these other ways to help:
1) Share: If you are unable to contribute financially, we understand. However, your help in spreading the word about our campaign would mean the world to us.
2) Donate to the GoFundMe campaign: No contribution is too small, as every act of kindness brings us closer to our goal. Your support will provide his family with the means to honor Ricky and relieve the financial burden weighing so heavily on their hearts.
3) Watch and share Tipping the Pain Scale https://youtu.be/6tnoz616ex0 To help spread the message Ricky was so passionate about. https://www.tippingthepainscale.com
4) Messages of Condolence: Your heartfelt words of comfort and sympathy provide solace to his family during this difficult time. We welcome messages, stories and memories of Ricky on the GoFundMe page or through personal messages as they serve as a testament to the profound impact Ricky had on our lives.
As we navigate this profound grief, we draw strength from the love and support we have received from our friends and community. We extend our deepest gratitude for your consideration and compassion, as your support will help us navigate the challenging road ahead. Together, we can ensure that the memory of Ricky lives on and continues to inspire future generations.
Thank you, from the depths of our hearts, for your generosity, love and support.
