Ensure a Healthy Winter for the Horses at Chrislin Farm

It’s time to help someone who spends every day helping others, someone who puts caring for animals and her community before herself. Let me tell you about this remarkable lady!

Christy’s love of animals has been the true devotion of her life. Christy’s mom started the Hinsdale Humane Society when Christy was young, and Christy’s first moments on horseback were literally in her mother’s womb. Christy has served as an animal welfare investigator for HARPS and HAHS, both of which are dedicated to hooved animals’ rescue and welfare. Christy has been training horses, teaching horse riding and care, and rescuing and rehabbing horses with disabilities and special needs for over 40 years. Chrislin Farm is the culmination of her knowledge, passion, and hard work. The health, happiness, and wellbeing of the horses in her care is always her first priority. I’ve never known anyone with such a gift with animals of all kinds.

Financially providing for the animals has become increasingly difficult. The costs of feed, medicines and the needs of her horses with disabilities have ballooned this year. Weather issues have played a part in the delay in getting her own hay cut, which she uses for her horses. On top of all this, Christy sustained a broken elbow, which limited her ability to do work for a time, causing added hardship.

With Christy’s birthday approaching, I can think of no greater gift for her than knowing that the animals will be well cared for this winter, despite the financial obstacles that the weather and rising costs have produced this year. With this in mind, I am asking for whatever help friends, family, and community can afford. Christy is a proud, hard worker, and does much of the labor herself. I would never ask for help for her if it wasn’t truly needed. Together we can help Chrislin Farm continue to provide love and care for some beautiful horses, and help a really extraordinary person continue to do really extraordinary work. Let’s do this!
