We're Kate and Devin. We represent the breadth of people who care deeply for Lily W--Kate going back to her time at Bowdoin College and Devin who sees Lily on the daily at their work at Trader Joe's Sandy Springs, Georgia.
We adore Lily, for her adventurousness, her independence, her risk-taking, her hard work, her intentionality, and her bravery. (Her travel photography is pretty amazing, too!)
But for all her strength, Lily is in a HARD situation right now.
After making public her decision to divorce her husband, Lily has become physically UNSAFE in their still-shared home. She has endured threats and emotional betrayal, and she is doing a BRAVE thing to walk away.
But bravery alone can't solve this problem or protect Lily during this increasingly dangerous situation. She needs FUNDS to make her escape and legalize the divorce.
We, Devin and Kate, would like you to join us in contributing to Lily's GET OUT SAFE fund. This will cover:
- $1,300 to pay the lease cancellation (she CAN'T stay there, but she also absolutely must not get an eviction on her record
- $6,000 towards divorce legal fees. (The typical divorce without children in Georgia costs $14,700, up to about $22,000 if it goes to court. We hope that $6,000 at the outset will cover enough hours with a lawyer to prevent a vengeful legal escalation.)
- $900 for a security deposit on a new apartment where she will be physically SAFE.
We would be so grateful if you could help contribute to this goal. We know Lily's network is filled with amazing, generous, and caring people, stretching across continents. We're confident we can make this happen for Lily.
