Environmental Education for kids from rural areas

We are Resplandor International, a 501(c)3 non-profit association founded in 2009 in the rural community of Cajones Guanajuato, Mexico. We collaborate with individuals, families and communities in education, culture and health, focusing on improving the quality of life and general well-being of those we serve.
We are super excited to launch ¨Cuidadores de la Tierra¨ a three-day camp designed to provide a magical learning adventure for children. The aim of the program is to have children gain a broader understanding and deeper feelings for our planet so that they can become environmental role models and advocates for all living things. The natural environment is used as an outdoor classroom to learn about ecological concepts through experiential learning while endearing children to the environment. It is an international program under the guise of the Institute for Earth Education that operates in 30 different countries. We have been preparing for the program for the past two years by training and developing materials in collaboration with the Cooper Environmental Learning Center and the University of Arizona in Tucson. This past July 2022, we conducted the first group of students to complete the program in Mexico.
Our fundraising goal is to provide 200 scholarships during this academic year (2022-2023) to children from rural communities to participate in the camp for 3 days and 2 nights. A contribution of USD 60 will provide the opportunity for a student from a rural and vulnerable community to participate in the program.
Your support provides meals, didactic materials, a t-shirt, transportation and a small fee to the facilitators. With your contribution, children will participate in this experience in the company of parents and teachers and take the knowledge, experiences and commitments of action on behalf of the environment to their families, community and schools.
The camp takes place within the natural protected areas of the "Presa de la Purisima”, the “Cerro del Sombrero” and its surroundings. The area holds a Ceremonial Center for ancient indigenous populations, pre-hispanic petroglyphs and incredible biodiversity.
With your support, we can allow a child to live this experience and provide participants with tools to live in harmony with the natural world and become responsible and loving Earthkeepers.
We invite you to be part of this effort to instruct and educate children to take action in favor of planet earth and the environment.
