Environmental Survey So My Son Can Start His Life Again

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Cliff, and for the last 25 years, my son Mark has suffered with a condition known as Electrosensitivity (that's us in the picture about 8 years ago). This means that he can experience adverse reactions to electromagnetic radiation produced by Wi-Fi, phone masts and smart meters, as well as by powerlines and electrical appliances. For those that are unfamiliar with the condition, there's a good description of it on the website of the charity; ES-UK:

I wouldn't normally consider asking for help in this way, but Mark has become so ill recently that I'm desperate to help him and as a pensioner I feel this is my only option.

For years, Mark has been managing his condition well enough to hold down a job. However, something happened a couple of years ago, which resulted in a sudden downturn in his health, and the eventual loss of his job. I'll explain what that event was shortly.

He's still relatively young, so has a long working life ahead of him. But right now, he's living with agonising pain, unable to manage day-to-day tasks, and facing severe financial hardship. At present he’s worse than he’s ever been, experiencing a twitching right eye, extreme lethargy, throbbing headaches and prostate problems. As his father it really is breaking my heart. His claims for PIP have so far been unsuccessful.

The event that lead to this downturn was when an electrician attended his home to upgrade the fuse box. Immediately after the work was done, he felt incredibly ill and developed severe lower back pain which has stayed with him ever since. Over time, the effect has ground him down to such a point, that he can no longer function properly.

It might sound strange that a seemingly small change has had such a detrimental impact on his health, but some electrosensitive people may be able to relate to this. Incidentally, switching off the electricity supply does not make any difference to the effect on him. He's tried to get to the bottom of what happened that day, but the electrician couldn't enlighten him becoming unhelpful and evasive.

Following numerous discussions with electrosensitive people, some of whom are knowledgeable in electrics, it has been suggested that the electrician might have inadvertently created an anomaly in the wiring when he changed the fuse box. As for the solution, the general consensus is that Mark should get an EMF surveyor in to identify the problem, and the surveyor can liaise with another electrician to get it resolved. I can't afford to pay for any of this for him, so this is where I desperately need help.

An EMF surveyor has offered to attend his home for a reduced cost of £300, which includes their travel. Until the problem is identified, I don't know how much it would cost the electrician to put things right, but the surveyor estimates that it shouldn't take more than a day of the electrician's time. The average day rate for electricians is around £400. Therefore, I need to raise around £700 in total to pay for this. Please can you help?

If the work ends up costing less than anticipated, I will donate any surplus funds to the ES-UK charity (Registered Charity No. 1103018).

I will update this appeal with the outcome of the situation, and when Mark is back on his feet, I know he will gladly help anyone else who should happen to find themselves in a similar position.

Thank you very much for reading this.
