Casey’s Medical Bills
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Nora and I am Casey’s grandma.
Casey was born with an extremely rare congenital myopathy (Nemaline Myopathy) we’ve known about that condition since he was about 4 months old. What we didn’t know was how it affects his respiratory system. On Friday (7/22) he had an incident in the truck that concerned Kiley and Colton. She pulled over and took him out of his car seat and he vomited. He likely aspirated when he threw up. He was unresponsive and limp so they took him to Clovis ER. He tested positive for Rhino Entero virus (common cold) but his O2 was low so they transferred him to Valley Children's hospital. He was on O2 and antibiotics on Saturday and Sunday. Monday morning he was unresponsive and wouldn’t wake. They tested his blood gas (Co2) and it was VERY high. They switched him to high flow O2 and it continued to rise. They tried bipap but it still didn’t bring down his numbers. They called a code blue to get him up to PICU asap. Once in PICU they intubated. His levels came down and he stayed on the vent for 6 days until he was stable enough to remove it.
Casey is such a fighter and has continued to impress us every step of the way with his recovery. Last Saturday he was able to be extubated and since then we’ve been working on getting and keeping his levels stable. He will need bipap at night for sleeping and will go home with that.
This has been an extremely long and emotional 2 weeks in the hospital. After 14 days we received news today that Casey is now stable enough to move to a regular floor at VCH.
We want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers during this time.
as Casey heals we are acutely aware of the financial burden this is going to place on this very young family. Casey will need specialized equipment and therapies going forward, many of those appointments and therapies are out of town and require travel expenses. Even with insurance the medical bills are already starting to come in.
if you are able to financially bless this family in any way please know that it is extremely appreciated. If you are unable to help financially but can keep this beautiful family in your prayers that is also extremely appreciated.
we love this little man so very much ❤️❤️
