13 Months Of Sunshine

Thanks to all who helped with our Ethiopian charity, last week, my uncle & friend assisted a school in Ethiopia, & bought them food: (Teff, Berbere, Shiro & onions) for the amazing children who can't afford lunch. The Principal wrote the letter of the details below. This school should have enough for 3 months, & we'll help them more when they ask. Since 2014, we helped 3 schools, 2 NGOS & over 300 children with food, school materials & uniforms, & we have enough funds to help them. Thank you to all who helped! Thanks to all of you who donated & helped with our charity calendar, we helped over 300 amazing Ethiopian children. For 3 schools & a Foster Home, we bought over 135 school uniforms for needy students, paid lunches for a month for over 100 needy students, & bought many books for their schools' limited library. We assisted 8 children in our calendar with uniforms, tuition assistance, school supplies and bookbags. We found 15 needy children and helped them with school supplies and uniforms. For Artist For Charity, we bought over 23 new shoes for kids with HIV. So far, we raised around $6,750, had $1,300 on calendar printing costs, paid $250 on 5% Fund Fee, paid $240 on mailing costs and spent $2,709 on these wonderful children. We have $2,200 left over. For the remaining $2,251, we plan to pay for lunches for the second month for the needy students and buy more school supplies & uniforms. I have all the receipts and thank you letters from the 3 schools and the foster home. Thank you to all for your great support.

Since I'm in America now, in December 2014, my friend Bethel, who donated for our charity calendar, visited the school that was helped last month and brought them two quintal teff, 20 kilo shiro, 1 fersula berberra, keemem for berberra, and 25 liter of oil. Since I'm in America, the school said they ran out of the food we brought last month, so Bethel took time from her busy vacation in Ethiopia to help me and the kids. The school offers free lunches to 30+ students but runs out of donations, so these items should last for 2 months or more. Bethel, you brought many smiles to their beautiful faces! I give thanks to you and the other donors!




Because of financial reasons, Mesfin (the amazing kid on the charity calendar) couldn't attend day school with his friends and peers. Yesterday, Mesfin's Dad and I spent over 5 hours, enrolling Mesfin in day school, paying his year tuition, promising to pay 5 years if he becomes a good student, and buying uniforms and shoes to match his bookbag and school materials that we got him last week. This morning, I got teary eyed when I saw him walk to class! Thank u to all who helped, donated & sold the charity calendars! We plan to assist many kids this week. Stay blessed :0)



Desay, the amazing 13-year-old child who's in the charity calendar, wakes up every morning to work diligently on the fields and to carry gallons of water for another job. Desay uses the money he earns during the day to attend night school. Desay only has one parent-this person doesn't live with him. Thanks to all your help with the charity calendar, this morning, we gave Desay new shoes, pants, sweater & school books. We'll pay his year tuition and promised to pay for 5 years if Desay gets good grades! Thank you to all!



I wanted to help Ethiopian children with HIV and asked my cousin who volunteered at a center years ago. I contacted the center & found out it was named Artists For Charity, my hometown charity, a charity I attended one time in DC. Thanks to all who bought and donated the charity calendars, we gave 23 beautiful children new shoes in this Ethiopian Center. Artist For Charity has done incredible things for the past 8 years, providing an amazing house, offering great tutors, enrolling the children in incredible private schools, and seeing wonderful results. I spoke to two beautiful children today at AFC with a 3.7 and 3.2 GPAs! Please continue to support AFC and these beautiful children. Thank you



10/14/14: Today was a great day in Ethiopia for me. Thanks to all who donated & contributed for the charity calendar, we went to 3 different schools this morning & gave over 100 amazing students who needed uniforms new uniforms & sweaters! Thank you to all.



In Ethiopia today, since some students can't afford lunch, the school offers about 30 students free lunch. The school has limited food, so thanks to all who donated and bought the charity calendar, we bought 100 kilos of Tef food to feed these beautiful children for a month or two. Thank you!

Thanks to all your help, we bought 26 children at a foster home uniforms in Ethiopia.



Thanks to all your help, we found 3 kids who were on the calendar and gave them book-bags and school supplies.  We even gave over 25 kids in their neighborhood school supplies. For one of the kid from the poetry calendar, since his parents can't afford day school, we'll pay for his year tution and buy him uniforms.  If he keeps a good mark, we promised his mother and him to pay his tution for 5 years.
