Help Us Rebuild After a Devastating House Fire

Hello! I am helping two dear friends raise money as they navigate the aftermath of a horrible apartment fire.

On the night of November 5th our lives were turned upside down when we experienced an accidental apartment fire. This fire left us homeless and without essential support. Tragically and frustratingly, we have not received any assistance or compassion from our landlord, who refuses to help us resolve this devastating situation.

Since the fire, the landlord has ignored our calls and messages, though he has communicated with our neighbors. Despite having home insurance, he has shown no intention of using it to help us recover. A week has passed, and he hasn’t checked if we’re okay or offered any help to get us back on our feet.

In desperation, we are currently living with a neighbor who was kind enough to take us in temporarily. We have lost almost everything in the fire and have done everything in our power to manage the aftermath. We cleaned the house as best as possible and even contacted a professional cleaning company, who provided a detailed assessment and cost estimate (about $2,000 USD).

We have been cooperative and willing to work with the landlord from the beginning, hoping to resolve this disaster together. Yet, he has done absolutely nothing to help. He refuses to take our calls, preferring text messages only and remains uncommunicative.

The stress of this situation has been overwhelming. We’ve missed work as we struggle to find a way forward and search for a new place to live, as our home is no longer habitable.

We are turning to the community for help because we have no other options.
