Support Ephantus' Education Fund
Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Ephantus, I am appealing to well-wishers to help me raise funds to pay my student loans. I started my education journey after the 2008-2009 economic recession which led to many companies closing down. I had no degree when I lost my job. Thus, I decided to go back to school after listening to the government and political leaders urging people to go back to school and attain better job skills.
After working very hard, I attained my associate degree from a community college in 2016. With excitement I tried to look for a job but experienced a lot of challenges. I decided to further my studies so that I could increase chances of getting hired. I enrolled at a public university (Metropolitan State University, Saint Paul, Minnesota), and in 2018, I got my bachelor's degree (with honors) in business administration. At this juncture, I had high expectations that either the state or federal government would give me an opportunity to serve the citizens of this great country and be able to pay my student loans. Unfortunately, even after so many job applications I was unsuccessful. I decided to engage in a small business venture, whereby I started helping non-profit organizations and state government entities with their community outreach campaigns.
After one year, I decided to go back to school to get my master's degree hoping after attaining it I would be more eligible in the job market. This meant getting more student loans to manage to pay for my education. I worked extremely hard and in May 2021, I attained my master's degree in business administration with a G.P.A of 3.91. For me to achieve education success I worked minimally. And thus I relied on federal student loans.
After graduation, I continued with my small business while still looking for a job, but I was still unlucky especially due to the COVID-19 outbreak. In 2022, I joined AmeriCorps and served at Metropolitan State University as a college student success coach helping students from marginalized communities learn how to stay in college and eventually graduate; guiding them navigate and access resources within and outside the university; assisting them find internships and volunteer opportunities, etc. I served for one year. Then after no luck with any job opportunity, I decided to volunteer as an economic development commissioner for my city, which I am doing up to now.
I am person who shy-off from asking for help, but at this point I decided to seek assistance from kind well-wishers due to being overwhelmed by my student loans debt. NOTE: I am open to the idea of any donor who wishes to send his/her donation directly to Nelnet (loan servicer). One can do so by sending to Account #: E872946696 (Ephantus Mwangi)
