Ephraim Goldberg Memorial Dedication

Dear Friends,

Our world changed on October 3, 2018, the morning after a beautiful Sukkos holiday.

Our beloved husband, father, son and brother was suddenly and inexplicably gone from our lives. Our source of strength, wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love and devotion was uprooted, leaving a void that words cannot describe.

But it is not just our personal world that has changed. As this loss continues to be processed by family, friends, and the community, so many lessons have been shared about Ephraim’s impact both personally and publicly. Ephraim was a builder of people. Meeting Ephraim was establishing a relationship with someone who cared very sincerely and deeply about you. He was often the first friendly face in a room, and was quick to connect with anyone who would cross his path. His warmth, compassion, intuitiveness and belief in people’s strengths, made him a popular friend and sought after confidante. A campaign to “Greet, Inquire, Connect, Inspire,” was launched to fill some of the void left by Ephraim’s loss.

Ephraim was also a builder of community. As a man of action, he became very active in his community of Boca Raton from the beginning of his family’s move there 30 years ago. He was a builder of shuls, schools, and community programs. He was a man who united people of all backgrounds and all personalities to come together for a larger cause. Boca Raton, which started out fledgling at best, has now become one of the most popular out of town Jewish communities. Ephraim’s loss is therefore not just felt by family and friends, but by institutions themselves.

Some of the institutions that Ephraim dedicated himself to are now in stages of transition and expansion. Ephraim looked forward to watching them embark on establishing new buildings and growing even further. It is only befitting and honorable to establish a memorial in Ephraim’s name in the community he helped found. A memorial that will honor Ephraim’s efforts in pioneering and building the Boca Raton community, and will inspire others to continue to do the same.
Ephraim was not a community Rabbi, political figure, or wealthy man. He was someone who took responsibility and cared a whole lot...and left an impact that will be felt for eternity. A befitting memorial will require funds that the family cannot bear alone. We need the help of others, to honor the man who gave to us and our community his entire life.

Ephraim lived by the mottoes of “doing the right thing,” “move outside your comfort zone,” and “just because something is hard is not a reason not to do it.” As his family, we are living by those mottoes now in turning to you.

Please contribute to this important campaign and help Ephraim’s legacy live on.
