Epilepsy Service Dog for Mia Bella
Donation protected
I would like to introduce my daughter Mia’s Bella’s story. Mia is my only daughter, my only princess that I love immensely and she suffers from neurological seizures “Gran-Mal seizures” She was 1st diagnosed on November 15th, 2021. I took her to the ER at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena,Ca. While waiting in the ER she had her 1st seizure. They rushed her to get an MRI and EEG that’s when they discovered she has a brain cyst > Fossa Posterior Cyst on her right side. This news broke our hearts into pieces. I screamed and I cried like I never knew I could scream. Not only having seizures but also a brain cyst.
On March of 2022, she had a EEG for 3 days which showed she gets General Sparks like minor seizures while sleeping. Her doctor educated us on SUDEP “Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy” which I maintained positive and I broke again into million pieces. To hear your daughter can die while sleeping or during a grand mal seizure…..
Throughout the months we noticed a pattern she gets seizures during holidays, siblings birthdays, on her 14th Birthday while leaving on vacation, family vacations or simply any high emotions she experiences. Even sleep deprivation can trigger a seizure. During these times she has to be extra medicated to try to prevent seizures.
On Nov 28, 2022 was a parents worst nightmare. I found my daughter’s lifeless body in the bathroom floor. I don’t know how long she was without oxygen, I screamed and I prayed I called my daughters name telling her mommy is here to please come back. I started hitting her back as a 1st reaction because I thought she chocked on her tongue. About a minute later she started gasping for air and with in few seconds after she started getting colored again. I knew she was going to be OK. I called 911 and they rushed her to the Hospital. It took her couple of days for her body to return to baseline. I as her mother did not eat or sleep for 2 days. Just watching her and at night I had a hand flashlight to checked if she was breathing throughout the night. This has been a rollercoaster for us as an entire family as she is so loving, smart, shy, super talented to see her suffer and almost loosing her.
On Dec 22nd, 2022 she had an MRI and they gave us results until January 10th, 2023.
On Dec 27th, 2022 I took her to UCLA for a 2nd opinion and they added a 3rd medication and increased her Keppra dose to 1,500 mg 2x a day and she had an MRI which her results show that she still has the cyst minor change and a new brain development called “Low lying cerebellar tonsils lying 5 mm below the foramen magnum which this consider Borderline. They will monitor both and compare in few months…. what’s neat about UCLA is that they have a EMU unit to do an intense seizure monitor tests which can show where exactly where are her seizures originating.
On January 9th, she had another seizure and this seizure was much different from her other seizures. They are more intense and longer.
All these tests and ambulance and Emergency room visits are costing us a lot of money with Deductibles and Co insurance, Medicine costs our bills are piling up in the thousands. With future tests and unforeseen emergency events we are reaching out for help.
I’m seeking donations for a Epileptic Service Dog for my daughter Mia. I know these dogs are extremely costly starting at 30k to 50k which her Insurance don’t cover. This furry service dog can help us watch her and be by her side even detect seizures minutes before she has a seizure. This Dog can help her with depression and be her long journey furry friend.
Any monetary donations will be a blessing towards her Service Dog and medical bills that can help save her life.
I will be updating you with all her tests and reports as she continues to fight to stay alive.
Thank you, Thank You God Bless you even $1 dollar means a-lot or a simple share on your social media. A Good deed never goes un-noticed, it’s call Good Karma.
