Edgardo "Ed" Lopez Fundraiser
Organizer: Kane County Forest Preserve District Police and Eric Villanueva on behalf of Ed and Pam Lopez
On March 7, 2024, after experiencing symptomatic pains and illness Ed Lopez was diagnosed with Cholangiocarcinoma a rare cancer of the liver bile ducts. Unfortunately, this cancer has metastasized or spread to other sites of his body and is classified as a "Stage IV" status. It is estimated that only 9% of the patients diagnosed in this late stage survive five years even with aggressive chemotherapy and radiation.
Ed had been a loyal Law Enforcement servant to the Village of Hanover Park for 26 years and continues post-retirement to serve with the Kane County Forest Preserve District Police. During his tenure with the Hanover Park Police, Ed had used his knowledge and certifications to train patrol officers and other department members in firearms instruction, Active Shooter and Rapid Deployment. As a Team Leader of Hanover Park's Crisis Resolution Team (CRT/SWAT) he became the lead instructor and trainer in SWAT tactics, search warrant planning and execution. As a member of the Illinois Tactical Officers Association Ed was a certified Tactical Patrol Officer (TPO) and MACTAC instructor. Ed continues to train and instruct members of the Kane County Forest Preserve District Police in those facets including ATV Rider/Safety certification and general conservation law enforcement.
Our Friend and "Brother in Blue" needs our help.
With the aggressive chemotherapy and radiation sessions Ed will not be able to work due to the aftereffects (extreme pain, nausea and fatigue). The funds raised will be used to offset mounting medical bills, exhaustion of benefit hours and Ed's family.
Please donate, any amount given will help ease the financial burden inflicted by this disease.
