Help get Sadie to her veteran!

A little about myself:

I am disabled Iraqi War veteran who has an abundance medical issues due to my 8 years of service in the United States Marine Corps. I suffer from deteriorating knee problems which cause my knees to buckle to the point I spontaneously lose balance and fall, back issues, and post traumatic stress disorder (P.T.S.D.) to name a few. I was unwillingly separated from the Marine Corps in late 2012 for medical reasons involving a heart condition with several side factors; one being arrhythmia. This, upon other diagnoses disqualified me from the opportunity to continue my carrier and through retirement, as I had hoped. I am currently on the waiting list for 2015 Fall Classes at Montgomery Community College in Troy, North Carolina, where I plan to continue my education.

Through tireless efforts to find a service dog that will potentially provide me with the adequate physical and emotional support I need, I have located a puppy that qualifies to be trained as a Service Dog. “Sadie” is currently located in Arkansas and I reside in Maine. With my current situation, only receiving a small disability pay through the VA (Veterans Affairs), as well as pursuing employment and furthering my education; I am unable to acquire the funds to not only acquire Sadie, but ensure that I am able to support her during her first few moments at her new home. I have been in dire need of a companion for the past 2 years, and have finally been given the opportunity to gain this companionship. I am asking for any and all donations to meet, as well as exceed, the funds needed to change my life.

There are a number of veterans who are in just as much - if not more - need of the same help within our country. My journey to find a service companion has not been graceful, to say the least, and I can only imagine the need of so many more of our service men and women who find themselves in the same predicament. I am not asking for a handout here. On the contrary, I am asking for your help. I am asking for donations that will not only change my life, but also to change the lives of approximately 60% of veterans living in the United States of America from the Vietnam to Afghanistan Wars, according to the US Department of Veterans Affairs.(*) Although this is a digital fundraiser under my name, focused immediately on my cause, this is also a fundraiser to promote awareness in hopes of gaining a remedy for the other veterans in the same position as I find myself in.

Any and all donations will go to provide this service and availability to any and all veterans who qualify and need the same cure as I do. Your help is indescribably appreciated, regardless of what help that is.

You donating will not only help in allowing me transport to meet my personal service companion, but my new best friend, and life saver as well as helping Sadie be matched with her new handler, and forever home. Funds will also go to assist me in getting her additional training, food, vet bills and getting essential gear (ie. bed, leash, Service Dog vest, treats and initial veterinarian bills). In addition, any abundance of funds will go towards the allocation of allowing other service members (present and prior) the opportunity to have the same life changing experience as I have.

Please consider donating any amount you can to help make our movement an implementation. I am very grateful and humbled for any assistance.

Sadie also has a Facebook page. If you are interested in following our bonding journey, as well as our days as a pair, feel free to check out the link below :
