EQ&JS Foundation Zogo Rehabilitation Program - Help us Unlock a $10,000 Challenge Grant!
Here’s the challenge:
Formed by returning American slaves, and located on the West Coast of equatorial Africa, Liberia is the Continent’s oldest Republic. While it has proudly worn this distinction for over 170 years, Liberia remains one of the poorest countries in the world. In the 1990s and through the mid-2000s civil war and government mismanagement destroyed much of Liberia’s economy and infrastructure, resulting in a decline of living standards and quality of life for its people. The conflict’s greatest tragedy, however, was the use of “child soldiers” who now make up the majority of what are known as “Zogos.” They have become social outcasts who live on city streets by their wits and by committing petty crimes. They sleep in graveyards and abandoned buildings. They are typically addicted to various substances, are frequently arrested, and have little to no hope for help of any kind.
EQ&JS Foundation is asking for your help to fund its Zogo Rehabilitation Program’s year-1 operating budget of $60,000 USD. Reaching $10,000 USD in Donations and 500 Social Media followers by EOD October 8th will help us unlock a $10,000 USD Challenge Grant!
The Zogo Rehabilitation Program Details:
The program is focused on rehabilitating social-outcasts, known as Zogos, many of whom were recruited to fight in Liberia’s 14-year civil war which ended in 2003.
It is a Six-Month Program, run by our team of experts, specifically designed to cleanse the body, mind, and spirit of its Zogo residents. The program also provides self-help instruction and specific job training for residents, as well as access to resources for gainful post-program employment.
The program includes Phoenix Community Meetings which will provide ongoing connections and support to help our program graduates lead meaningful and productive lives.
