Equip Aerial Recovery Volunteers to Rebuild WNC After Helene
Donation protected
Hurricane Helene made landfall in Western North Carolina on Friday, September 27. The unexpected heavy rain caused monumental flooding - flooding that has not occurred in the area for over 100 years - and with it, devastated entire communities in the place we call home.
My name is Alex, and my wife and I own Engadine Inn and Cabins here in WNC. We’ve partnered with Aerial Recovery Group , a non-profit organization based in Nashville, Tennesse specializing in disaster recovery. Currently, they are running ground and aerial rescue missions, removing trees and clearing roads to make them more accessible, and deploying supplies to those who are otherwise unable to obtain them.
The funds raised will allow us to get the crews the equipment they need to conduct their missions, feed them, and house them for as long as they need. Any funds that are left over when they leave Engadine will be donated right back to them. Their biggest needs currently are proper chainsaws and communication equipment, both of which we have already sourced from a local supplier.
We started with 8-10 volunteers. We are now up to 50 and are still growing. As the team grows, we want to ensure that we can support them with the right equipment and needed supplies as they truly are only getting started in helping the community on our road to recovery.
