Power up CC4D Bright Makerspace Yei and Repair Cafe!

Donation protected
At Community Creativity for Development (CC4D), we believe in empowering communities through innovation, sustainability, and repair culture. In Yei River County, South Sudan, we’ve established a Repair Café, a space where local youth and community members can learn valuable repair skills, refurbish electronics, and reduce waste. The center was established in August 2023. This space serves as a hub for knowledge-sharing, creativity, and sustainable development in a post conflict region that faces many challenges.

Our Goal: $8,000 USD / 80000 SEK

We’re raising $8,000 to equip the CC4D Makerspace and Repair Café with the necessary tools and resources to continue providing essential training and repair services to the community. Specifically, we need funds for:

A Solar System: (4 solar panels, 2 batteries, and accessories) to power the café, ensuring we can operate even during power outages.
Repair Tools: To equip our participants with the right tools to fix electronics, household items, and more.
Furniture (Chairs & Tables): To create a comfortable and functional learning environment for our workshops and repair sessions.

Why This Matters:

Empowering Youth: The café trains marginalized youth, including women and girls, in practical skills - helping them become self-sufficient and create opportunities for themselves.

Environmental Impact: By promoting repair and upcycling, we reduce waste and promote sustainability in the community.
Promote Culture of Repair: The café advocates for a culture of repair, emphasizing the importance of maintaining and reusing items rather than discarding them, which contributes to long-term sustainable development.

Community Development: The café acts as a central gathering place where locals can access repair services, tools, share knowledge, and strengthen community bonds. This shared space not only contributes to economic development but also fosters peace and resilience in the community.

How You Can Help:

Your donation will directly contribute to powering the café, purchasing necessary tools, and creating a more inviting space for community members. Even a small contribution can make a big difference!

- $800 can help us purchase electronic repair tools and equipment.
- $700 for buying tables and chairs for training workshops and office use.
- $6,500 can go towards solar panels, batteries and accessories to keep the café running sustainably.

About CC4D

Community Creativity for Development (CC4D), a proud member of #ASKnet, GIG, and the Restarters community operating in Uganda and South Sudan, champions technology, environmental sustainability, and community empowerment. Through digital literacy training and repair café events, CC4D nurtures a culture of repair, equipping communities with practical skills and reducing environmental impact. Our mission is to connect communities and develop solutions to combat global warming.

In 2024, we empowered over 900 young people, including women and girls, in Rhino Camp, Uganda, and Yei, South Sudan. Through 12 impactful workshops and repair café events, we trained 200 individuals (147 men and 53 women) in digital literacy, electronic device and textile repair, upcycling, enhancing livelihoods and building sustainable communities.

We celebrated the repair of over 150 electronic devices, significantly reducing e-waste while promoting environmental stewardship. Additionally, through our awareness campaigns, approximately 700 people gained valuable knowledge about e-waste management, focusing on repair, reuse, upcycling, and safe disposal practices.

Every skill taught, every repaired item, and every empowered individual reflects the transformative power of your support. You have helped us achieve incredible milestones, inspiring us to dream bigger and work harder for a sustainable future.

We are excited to continue this journey with you. Thank you for believing in our mission and being a vital part of creating meaningful, lasting change.
