Equity In Dance Fundraiser

Hello, our names are Mackenzie Gillies and Shannon Widdis & we are the co-directors of a volunteer organization (an unincorporated not-for-profit association) called Equity In Dance. Equity In Dance is a youth-led organization that seeks to create art, challenge norms, learn histories, celebrate all, as well as create safe and equitable dancing spaces. Focusing on topics such as LGBTQ+ Rights, Mental Health Advocacy, Disability Rights, Anti-Racism, Decolonization, and Environmental activism, Equity In Dance has created a community engaged in the power of marginalized youth voices. Equity In Dance currently utilizes virtual communities and in-person workshops to make art and make change. We are a team of over fifteen youth leaders across the land now called North America. Composed of dance artists, dance educators, students, and social activists, Equity In Dance's team is determined to make a positive change in the global dance community.

 

As a youth-led volunteer organization, our team has an extraordinarily large passion to make change but few resources to do so. With the financial support of our loved ones and community members, we hope that we can continue to provide educational and arts-based resources on creating safe & equitable dancing spaces within the dance community.

 

Our team is currently fundraising for the general upkeep of our organization, the fees of of purchasing a domain for our website, the one day incorporation of the organization, and the ongoing enrichment training for our volunteer staff.
