Eradicate Workplace Abuse & Exploitation

Donation protected
I dedicated myself to a nonprofit that claimed to protect abuse survivors—only to become a victim of workplace abuse myself. Behind closed doors, the same leadership that studied coercion and championed community safety exploited, harassed, and manipulated their own marginalized employees.

I endured relentless bullying, gaslighting, and overwork until I developed severe anxiety, frequent panic attacks, and was ultimately hospitalized due to emotional distress. Despite my suffering, my employer continued their abuse—weaponizing my caregiving responsibilities for my mother to pressure me into silence and exploit me further.

I am still an employee, currently on sick leave due to ongoing harassment.

This isn’t just my story—it’s a systemic crisis in the nonprofit sector. Marginalized employees, especially Black, racialized, and migrant workers, are hired under the guise of diversity and inclusion, only to face discrimination, retaliation, and burnout.

Now, I’m taking a stand. I am filing a lawsuit to expose corruption and demand accountability—not just for myself, but for all workers suffering in silence.

The Research Backs It Up
The Centre for Community Organizations (COCo) has extensively documented the experiences of women of color in nonprofits, revealing widespread workplace discrimination. Their report, The “Problem” Woman of Colour in Nonprofit Organizations, highlights how racialized employees are:

Hired into predominantly white organizations to "diversify" workplaces—only to be tokenized and isolated.
Expected to perform excessive emotional and cultural labor without proper compensation.
Subjected to microaggressions, gaslighting, and heightened scrutiny, leading to high turnover rates.
Pushed out or retaliated against when they speak up about workplace inequities.

I lived this reality. I was overworked, underpaid, and expected to endure harassment in silence. When I spoke up, I was met with retaliation, exclusion, and emotional distress that ultimately led to my hospitalization.

This fight is bigger than me—it’s about exposing a broken system.

Why This Lawsuit Matters
Expose Workplace Abuse – Employers must be held accountable for discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
Reform Diversity Funding – Funds meant to uplift marginalized employees should not be used to cover up unethical practices.
Hold HR Accountable – HR departments must conduct fair and thorough investigations—not protect abusers.
Protect Workers – We need stronger legal protections to prevent exploitation, blacklisting, and career sabotage of marginalized groups.
Create Real Accountability – Leadership must stop hiding behind performative inclusion while harming the very employees they claim to support.

Winning this case could set a legal precedent that forces nonprofits to uphold the rights of their employees and ensures diversity funding serves its intended purpose.

The Reality of My Workplace Experience
❌ Relentless Harassment – I was bullied, discriminated against, and gaslit to the point of hospitalization.
❌ HR Negligence – HR failed to investigate my harassment claims, allowing my abuser to continue their behavior without consequence.
❌ Systemic Racism – Only racialized employees faced similar abuse, including pregnant workers.
❌ Career Sabotage & Blacklisting – I later discovered that my employer blacklists women of color from getting jobs in my community.
❌ Misuse of Diversity Funding – Instead of supporting marginalized workers, my employer used funds to push them out through harassment and undermining.
❌ Cyber Harassment & Safety Concerns – My personal data was hacked, leading to a police report.
❌ Severe Anxiety & Emotional Distress – The trauma left me with panic attacks, declining mental health, and hospital visits.

This is a pattern, not an isolated incident. Nonprofits receive funding for “diversity” while failing to protect the very employees they claim to uplift.

A Call to Human Rights Lawyers & Legal Advocates
We need legal professionals to push for:

✔ Mandatory Racial Equity Audits – Third-party audits on hiring, pay gaps, retention, and workplace culture.
✔ Misuse of Diversity Funding as Employment Fraud – Penalize nonprofits that exploit diversity grants.
✔ Workplace Racial Trauma as a Human Rights Violation – Hold employers accountable for systemic discrimination.
✔ Independent HR Oversight – HR must be separate from executive leadership to prevent cover-ups.
✔ Legal Consequences for HR Failures – If HR ignores or mishandles harassment claims, they should face legal and financial penalties.
✔ Enforced Equity Standards – Nonprofits that fail to meet racial equity standards must be held accountable.

We Deserve Better.
No more unchecked workplace abuse.
No more misuse of diversity funding.
No more silencing of marginalized employees.
No more HR departments protecting abusers.

We demand justice. We demand accountability. We demand systemic change.
