****January 23rd update**** Kat is home and healing SO well! She still has a soft cast for her wrist and will start rehab soon. Eric is being discharged from rehab Wednesday or Thursday!!!! He is in great spirits and is seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. He can transfer himself into his wheel chair and has been working on getting around on crutches. His abdominal incision from the emergency surgery is healing great but the incisions from his multiple leg surgeries will take more time to heal and he can’t bear weight on his leg for 11 more weeks. He will continue rehab once he’s discharged and still has a long road to full recovery but he is getting his strength back each day. They are so thankful for everyone’s continued support ❤️
*****January 15th update***** Eric is upright!!! He started his physical therapy journey yesterday and went from turning on his side and moving his legs yesterday to standing today! The Doctors seem pretty certain he’s done with surgeries and will be discharged this week!
***January 13th update*** Kat and Eric finally got to see eachother Tuesday night after having not seen eachother since the ambulance ride to the hospital Sunday morning. Kat went home Wednesday evening after having surgery to repair her collarbone and wrist. Eric had his second leg surgery Wednesday morning and third one Friday morning. Hoping Eric will be discharged home next week thanks for all your support to two people that would give the shirts off their backs for those they love and care about ❤️
******January 10th update****** Eric’s tube was removed Monday evening and he is able to talk again he will be going under for another surgery on his leg Wednesday and possibly a 4th (3rd for his leg) later this week. He is sore but overall feeling well all things considered. 2 broken ribs have been added to his list of injuries. Kat had surgery on Monday afternoon to repair her wrist and collarbone and is recovering well but is still admitted to the hospital because she is still in a lot of pain. Thank you all so much for your donations, texts, calls, and willingness to help when they get home with meals, carpools for the kids, and housework. They will appreciate it all more than you guys know ❤️
Eric and kat were involved in a motorcycle accident on Sunday January 8th, 2023. They were taken to a trauma center via ambulance in what seemed to be stable condition with just a few broken bones each. Once evaluated at the hospital it became apparent Eric was in much worse shape on the inside than anyone could tell. Eric needed emergency surgery to remove his ruptured spleen that caused him to lose 2 liters of blood. He was hypothermic and required resuscitation during surgery. He came out of surgery safely and was placed on a ventilator to assist with breathing until his body could get back up to temperature and more scans could be done to evaluate the damage to his left lower leg. He will need additional surgery on his leg to repair 3 fractures and will have a lot of therapy in his near future. Kat is awaiting surgery for her left wrist and collarbone. Kat and Eric are raising kats 4 kids and both work full time. We are not sure how long their recovery will be but it is expected to be months for both of them post surgery for physical therapy. Anything will help from meals, to groceries, to babysitters, to dog sitters. Please feel free to reach out to myself or kat if there is anything you can do to help them.
