In case you hadn't heard, Eric was finally able to have knee surgery this past Wednesday, February 15th! Eric suffered a complete ACL tear and partial tears of his medial and lateral meniscus ligaments on January 2nd this year.
Eric's day job is working with children with autism. In the evenings and on weekends he teaches West Coast Swing to anyone wanting to learn. When not engaged with those things, he is busy being a wonderful dad to his awesome kids.
With unhampered mobility being crucial to safely working with and protecting the kids he cares for, as well as the risk of further injury due to the unpredictable nature of his job, he was placed on unpaid medical leave from his full-time job. He has also been unable to teach dance lessons on nights and weekends. Between waiting for an MRI, waiting to see a specialist, and then scheduling the surgery, Eric has been off of work for 6 weeks without pay of any kind. Now he is looking at several months of rehab before he will be released to do physical work.
Many of you in the dance community know that he isn't in dance for the money, but more for the love of the dance community and the relationships he has formed over the years. Whether you've been coming to his dance for years, or it's your first time he values you and your presence there.
He has always been positive and supportive of us, and now it is our opportunity to support him. He would never ask for help on his own, which is why we created this GoFundMe in the hopes we can help alleviate the financial burden that has been placed upon him and his family.
