Eric is a cancer survivor and needs our help.

Hi, my name is Greg Wied and I'm raising money to help my best friend since high school, Eric Christensen, with medical bills related to his cancer treatments.

In March of 2023, our friend Eric began experiencing bouts of pain in his kidney, along with some bleeding. Initially thinking this may have been kidney stones, which he had experienced prior, he went about for a few days before finally going to the emergency room. He was sent to a urologist, who was concerned enough to order additional scans. It was at this visit that they discovered he had a tumor on one of his kidneys.

Due to the location and density of the tumor, the urologist determined that it was 99% likely to be cancerous and the only treatment was to remove the entire kidney. Within two weeks, Eric was in surgery at Houston Methodist Baytown for the removal of his tumor, and had to be out of work for 6 weeks to recover. A post-surgical pathology report came back confirming that the tumor was a renal cell clear cell carcinoma. Fortunately for Eric, his family, and friends, all tests afterward seem to indicate that the cancer did not spread and he is now cancer free.

While Eric and his family are relieved at the expiditious response of his medical staff and his speedy recovery and return to work, the bills are now beginning to arrive for his treatment. While he was initially too proud to allow me to start this GoFundMe to help, I was able to convince him that he has friends and family who love him, and a more-than-charitable community in the Mont Belvieu area and beyond who would be more than happy to help him in his time of need.

Any donations you can provide will go towards helping him with his growing medical debt and for ongoing treatments due to the loss of one of his kidneys and the need to monitor for future cancer growth.
