Last Friday Eric went in for a routine colonoscopy. Unfortunately instead of finding himself ravenous later that evening he barely ate. Saturday he felt weak and tired so we called the on call doctor. Since he was not running a fever we thought it was just a reaction to the anesthesia so he tried sleep and rest with basically a clear diet. From then until Monday, again he wasn't showing a high fever, it wasn't recommended to us to seek additional medical attention.
Tuesday morning things took a turn for the worst and Eric was admitted to the hospital. All week he was administered IV antibiotics to fight an infection and off all food and water for a two day stretch to rest the colon. All this to hopefully not have to undergo surgery.
Friday morning he had a CT Scan to see how the infection was doing and on Saturday morning we got the results.
Eric, while in good spirits and now on a clear diet, will be having surgery on Monday to remove the infection. (Please bear with me on the medical terms!)
Eric is expected to be in the hospital for one more week and then recovery at home. Unfortunately, due to the upcoming bills and lack of his paycheck I am expecting this month to start getting tight. My goal is to maintain our current month's bills while he is in the hospital and recovery. We will come up with a plan for the medical bills ourselves.
Please, if you are able to, donate.
I would like to thank everyone at Rex Healthcare in Raleigh. They have been taking wonderful care of my husband.
On a side note, I know there is a country song in here somewhere....the damn dog is sick too!
Mackenzie and I thank you!
