Erica Droessler has a lot of titles in life. She embraces these titles with pride and honor.
Mom of Tavin and Dax.
Wife of Adam.
Daughter of Tom and Kris Reichling.
Sister of Jenna Gill.
Aunt, cousin, friend.
Human Resources Director, Southwest Health
Recently, Erica was forced to add “cancer patient” to her list of titles.
Her leiomyosarcoma cancer diagnosis was handed down just six short months after her New Year’s Eve 2020 wedding to Adam.
A quick Google search of leiomyosarcoma is not for the faint of heart. It’s a sucker punch to the gut. Erica and Adam set out to fight this cancer together. As they listened to the treatment options from the top doctors at the top research hospitals in the Midwest, they couldn’t help but think there was a better option for fighting this Goliath.
They felt drawn to an integrative medicine treatment plan. A combination of Genetically Targeted Fractionated Chemotherapy, radiation, and a combination of immunotherapies have been Erica’s one two punch in this battle. Integrative medicine combines the best of holistic practices and traditional approaches leading to fewer side effects and a higher quality of life throughout the treatment.
She’s had to temporarily relocate to Scottsdale, AZ to be closer to Envita, a clinic that specializes in personalized oncology. Adam has been by her side every day, and he’s had to slow the development of his business endeavor to a snail’s pace which is also impacting their family income. Many of the treatments Erica is receiving as a part of her treatment plan are not covered by her insurance, and the procedures that are covered are being billed as out of network.
One of Erica’s colleagues recently described her as, “...intelligent yet humble, assertive yet eloquent, innovative yet steadfast.” That same colleague talked about Erica’s favorite phrase, “discretionary effort”. Discretionary effort is the work or effort exerted above and beyond what is expected.
Erica is fighting this battle with a lot of pride and honor and discretionary effort. The costs of living and treatment are mounting, and Adam and Erica need help. Please consider sharing a bit of your discretionary effort. Prayers and financial support are very much appreciated.
Erica and Adam thank all of those who have already generously sent gifts and cards. The love and support they have received has been overwhelming and they are forever grateful.
