A Surprise for Erica and Andrew

Donation protected
Shhh... this campaign is a surprise!

"Expected!" will be the word that forever sticks in my mind from the moment I met Erica Jacobs a year and a half ago. This word has become her motto and she lives everyday "expecting" to be healed.  She follows the bible verse, "Expect To Receive! To Receive, Expect! And therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you; and therefore He lifts Himself up, that He may have mercy on you and show loving-kindness to you. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who earnestly wait for Him, who expect and look and long for Him, His favor, His love, His peace, His joy, and His matchless, unbroken companionship". Isaiah 30:18

Erica has the most amazing personality and a smile that is infectious. I am honored to be able to start this page in her name in hopes of giving her and her new husband Andrew Guess a vacation together to enjoy the life that all newlyweds deserve.

Erica  came into my life a little over a year ago as a young new teacher at the school we teach at. The day of our first summer staff meeting she never showed and we all thought this wasn't a good first impression. Little did we know that her life was about to completely change that day. She had been suffering terrible headaches and with a new school year starting and relocating to Columbus she assumed it was stress. That morning Erica made it to Columbus and collapsed at her fiances apartment and had seizure. She was rushed to the hospital and at the age of 23, she was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme, a malignant brain tumor.  In the year to follow she would undergo two brain surgeries, fluid accumulations, leakages, menigitis, MRI's, chemotherapy, radiation, migraines and a wedding.

Despite all of these obstacles she managaed to have the most beautiful wedding. There were some things she didn't expect for her big day but she had Andrew beside her and that was all she needed. After the wedding life went back to focusing on her recovery. She eventually decided to take a leave from her stressful job of teaching to focus on her healing. Things were looking good but there was still a spot on her MRI that the doctors were watching closely,

In January 2015, Erica had another surgery to try to clean up a spot on her brain that appeared to be scar tissue. When the biopsy results came back they found some of the cells to be cancerous. At this point they are going to change up her chemotherapy regimen and try a different approach using two different meds. She is still feeling good and has the most positive outlook that she will be healed.. it is EXPECTED!

I have become very close to Erica during all of this and I truly feel God brought her to me because we both are in a time that we need each other for support. I have lived my entire life fighing heart disease and need a transplant. Erica has been so wonderful to me and has overlooked her own troubles to support me. She is a wonderful person and I know she would give anybody the shirt off her back. Both of our futures are uncertain but I do know that Erica is feeling good at this time and I would love to do something special for her and Andrew. I have started a Go Fund Me page in hopes of sending Erica and her new husband on a special vacation where they can forget about all the hospitals, medicines and treatments for a week and just enjoy time with each other.... just like old times!
