It's been a long road, and I still have a lot of road left to travel. I've tried not to ask for help along the way unless I absolutely needed it, and, well... now I need it.
I've come to a point in my transition that requires more than just hope, but this is just the starting line for me.
I've been saving up for several years now and this will cover a large portion of my costs. If any funds are left over, anything that isn't spent directly on transition-related care will be directed toward my legal and travel fees for the whole process, and if I end up raising money beyond that point, I will be making donations to the therapists and doctors who have supported me through all this to ensure that everyone has someone to turn to when they need help.
Negotiating with my insurance was an excruciating process, and I have recently been relieved of my employment status along with access to affordable care. This is why I will be traveling outside the country to undergo gender confirmation surgery with no possibility of funding from insurance.
The surgery will be taking place within the next year, quarantine and travel restrictions permitting.
This will quite possibly be the biggest step I've ever taken in my life toward being my authentic self. I'm anxious and excited and nervous and hopeful.
In addition, if you're in a situation financially that you are unable to donate to this fund, any help (mental, wardrobe, friendship, etc.) is appreciated.
I'd also like to take a moment to say Thank You to everyone that has helped me along the way, even in minor ways. Your kindness has kept me going even on my worst days. You are all an inspiration to me.
