Eric’s Cancer Support Fund
Donation protected
This past summer, everything was going great for Eric. Just married in May, newlyweds Eric and Lisa were already in the process of closing on their first home, and were dreaming of filling it with happy memories with their friends and future family.
But, on the week of both their birthdays in August, Eric fell ill and was admitted to the hospital with, what was originally thought to be, viral meningoencephalitis. However, after receiving treatment and being cleared to return home, Eric’s condition deteriorated into a plethora of symptoms that left doctors stumped. After many tests, scans, and treatments, doctors were able to locate a mass in his thoracic spinal column. After more than a month into his stay at the hospital, Eric’s pathology results showed that he does, in fact, have cancer. His cancer is an extremely rare and new central nervous system cancer called Diffuse Leptomeningeal Glioneuronal Tumor (DLGNT) that was first recognized by the WHO in 2016.
Eric’s going to have a long recovery road ahead of him to regain function, with many different intensive therapies. He’s been through countless tests, treatments, and three surgeries and has remained the Eric we know and love throughout it all. There is no telling at this point when he will be able to go back to work, though it may be a year before he’s strong enough to be able to return. Lisa has also been missing work since the beginning of August, taking on the full-time responsibility of caregiver, supportive spouse, and advocate.
This is where we come in. Friends and family of Eric and Lisa can be a HUGE support right now. On top of accumulating medical bills and other expenses, the Dion’s have lost income due to being unable to work.
Relieving the growing financial pressures they face will help the Dion’s focus on what’s most important: getting Eric’s health back.
Any donations received will go directly to Eric and Lisa and will be used towards Eric’s medical bills and living expenses.
