Eric's kidney transplant expenses

Hi, my name is Mari Rodriguez-Copeland and I am setting up this GoFundMe account on behalf of my husband Eric Copeland, who was diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure in 2021. His kidneys are currently functioning at less than 10% and he is very close to having to begin dialysis. He has been hospitalized several times in the last couple of years due to his kidney failure and he continues to fight through this difficult time.

Eric is a hard worker, a loving husband and a father who prides himself on taking care of his loved ones. He has always been the strong one in our little family and he is now unable to do a lot of the things he used to enjoy doing due to his declining health. Eric is known by his family, friends and co-workers alike for his humor, kindness and willingness to help others when he can.

We have been fortunate to have found a matching donor for him and he is scheduled to have the transplant done by the end of February 2023. Unfortunately, his donor does not live in Texas and Eric's insurance will only cover the actual transplant procedure. As part of our out-of-pocket expenses, we will have to pay for his donor's flight, lodging and food expenses. We will also have to pay for certain out-of-pocket expenses that his insurance does not cover.
