Erika Van Slyke Legacy Fund

The story of Erika Van Slyke was, very sadly, cut far too short at the young age of 37. She was a beautiful soul, both inside and out, and she had just begun to really feel like life wasn't escaping her anymore, and instead, she was truly beginning to live it. She was the best and closest friend of her younger sister, Amy, and thus this fund was born.

 

My amazing wife, Janae, and I will be the custodians of this gofundme account and the purpose of these funds is specifically designed to establish a living trust for the benefit of Amy Van Slyke in order to support her needs in the coming years, as she continues on without her partner in life. We established this account as a way for folks who knew the family, the deceased, or those so inclined to share in our loss, to grieve with us and give in a way that would perpetuate for some time to come. The family has asked for no flowers to be sent and instead, please consider a contribution to Amy on behalf of Erika's legacy.

 

As those who knew the family are aware, Amy has special needs and requires some assistance; of which, Erika often freely gave. Amy's needs are quite different than ours, and in my opinion, today's culture has simply forgotten about those who truly require our assistance. To that end, my mother, Rochelle and father, Terry, suggested that perhaps establishing a trust would be the most valuable gift they could ever give to Amy as a final goodbye from her sister. Janae and I wholeheartedly agreed.

 

The picture above captures the two beauties better than I could ever do with words because it was one of Erika's favorite photos with Amy and Erika's favorite color was red.
