Erika Wier Recovery Fund

While most are preparing for the holidays, Erika Wier is
fighting for her life, battling congestive heart failure that arose after she was hospitalized with a severe infection.
Erika spent her Thanksgiving in the hospital, undergoing a procedure to drain off an entire litre of fluid from the area surrounding her right lung.
On December 2, 2015, Erika was transported by helicopter to Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. She was originally scheduled to have an LVAD surgical procedure on her heart, but the significant fluid retention in Erika's body
led to the postponement of this operation.
The LVAD procedure will result in the implantation of a
mechanical pump device or left ventricular assist device, which will help Erika's weakened heart to pump blood throughout her body.
As of December 3, 2015, doctors were working to
"aggressively" promote the drainage of the fluid which has accumulated throughout Erika's body --- a common
complication of heart failure. The amount of fluid retention that Erika is experiencing is very significant -- 25 to 30 pounds or more.
Erika is currently being supported by "Ella" -- an Impella
machine, which is an external ventricular assist device that works to pump blood through the heart so Erika's heart can rest and heal. The plan is to gradually transition Erika off this machine ashe recovers.
Erika has a survivor's spirit. She's already beat cancer but the fight left her with just one kidney, which makes her medical situation a bit unique.
Unfortunately, Erika is facing at least two more weeks of hospitalization, which means she is facing some significant medical bills --- something that nobody should have to worry about when they're fighting for their life, especially during what's supposed to be a joyous holiday season.
So that brings us to this GoFundMe Campaign. We hope to raise at least $25,000 to help with Erika's medical expenses.
But we need your support in order to achieve this goal!
There are a few ways in which you can help support Erika Wier and her loved ones:
• Donate funds to help assist with Erika's medical expenses, which after many days of hospitalization, are going to be very significant. No amount is too small. Every dollar counts!
• Share this GoFundMe campaign on Facebook, Twitter and other social media channels to spread the word.
• Pray for Erika and her family members.
Erika Wier and her entire family thanks you in advance for your love and support during such a difficult and frightening time.
