My Volunteer Mission to Rwanda
Donation protected
I've been blessed with a great life. I have benefitted from a great family, terrific friends, and an inspiring job. I want to pay it forward. The time is now.
For those of you who do were told about my mission but do not know me, my name is Erik Ness and I am a high school history teacher and baseball coach at the Renaissance Academy in Phoenixville, PA. For 12 years, I have tried to inspire middle and high school students to be passionate about education and compassionate towards others. I feel as though I have been successful and now I want to bring my passion to others around the world.
On June 15, 2016, I will begin a 6-week volunteer mission to Rwanda, Africa with the Global Volunteer Network. I will take part in their "Community Outreach" program. In a nutshell, I will be helping Rwandans build a better future for themselves through a various tasks. A major part of that is education. My hope is to inspire others about the positive impact education can have on their lives. I will have the opportunity to teach children and teenagers English, while helping them with additional school work. There will also be chances to assist with some classes in area schools. If I can inspire just one child to want to learn, then the journey will be absolutely worth it!
This program also includes the chance for me to play a role in promoting local Rwandan agriculture – while helping to plant the seeds of growth – literally! Finally, I will work to help local businesses generate more income to become more successful in their respective communities. You can discover more about the program here - http://www.globalvolunteernetwork.org/rwanda/
Through this program, I will have the ability to help Rwandans better their lives. I cannot think of a better way to spend my summer. As you can imagine, I will probably get more from this experience than I can ever hope to give.
Needless to say, a volunteer program like this one does have a cost. This is where I need your help. I need to raise $5,000. Will you help make my dream a reality? You can easily support me by clicking on the link below to donate to my Go Fund Me page. Big or small, any monetary donation will make a difference! Because of your investment in me, you will be able to experience this journey with me through my online blog. You will get a first-hand account of the impact your support is having. (The Global Volunteer Network is a 501 (c) (3) tax exempt nonprofit organization. Their EIN # is 20-3087760.)

Additionally, I am hoping that you will tell others about me, why you decided to donate towards my dream, and how they can help as well. Please forward this message along to all of your family, friends, colleagues, etc.
Thank you for reading and coming along with me on this life-changing journey. I am out to prove that one person can make a difference. With your help, I will do it!
