Help Erin make it to her residency

I'm a dancer, choreographer and filmmaker based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I've been creating, teaching, and performing professionally for the last 15 years. My work has always been interdisciplinary, multimedia oriented, and often has a healthy dose of humor ;). The theme that inspires me the most is the space inside us and between us (something that also draws me strongly to Argentine Tango!).

Three years ago, I transformed my artwork by incorporating the medium of film into my choreography, and creating short dance films. Like this one!

Now, I'm in a deeper process - creating my first longer, and more involved film, aiming for feature length. It's about a girl who gets copied so many times, the original vanishes. It will be abstract, surreal, a bit on the sci-fi side, humorous, a bit heartbreaking and full of movement.

I've already received a residency in 2015 from the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance for the development of this project, with mentorship from Christian Burns and Bobbi Jene Smith, as well as doing some individual exploration and research with the amazing young dancer Jane Selna in March of 2016.  Now I've received a residency from the Atlantic Center for the Arts (ACA) in New Smyrna Beach Florida to continue developing this project.

I have received a scholarship from ACA that assists with the overall program fees, but am in need of your support for both travel expenses, program fees, and neccessary equipment to help me get there and make the most of this amazing, three-week residency. The ACA is an internationally renowned residency, bringing together Master Artists with mid-career artists in a unique format of regular classes and workshops in combination with individual artistic practice (The master artist I will be working with is Ian Winters, a video designer I have admired for a long time). This residency is crucial for pushing my artistic practice to the next level, connecting with fellow artists, building my artistic community on a worldwide scale and creating even more sophisticated work than ever before.

As I've begun touring professionally as an Argentine Tango dancer, maintaining my art practice is still a fundamental part of my life - I am first and foremost an artist! However, the way I have to structure my time has changed and I must work in short, intensive bursts to bring projects to fruition. I really need your financial (and emotional) support in this time of transition to help me continue creating!

My residency at ACA is from May 15th until June 4th - very soon! Please consider donating to help me continue with my artistic practice and help me get to the Atlantic Center for the Arts!
